Adolf Westergerling stone sculpture

This is most likely an academy piece from local German stone which has a glassy lava like appearance and texture

From the estate of Adolf Westergerling in Scarborough Western Australia. Born 1932 and apprenticed as a sculptor. He studied at the Staatliche Kunstakademie Düsseldorf with Ewald Mataré (1887-1965) one of the most important German sculptors of the 20th. Century).

From 1960 Westergerling was a freelance sculptor working in free and applied plastics, bronze and stone. He lived in Mettmann and Rheda-Wiedenbrück and latterly Westen Australia until he died.
